Personal Data Collection & Use

If you are a member or considering becoming one, we ask that you take the time to read through our privacy policy regarding the use of personal information of our members and users – further detailed below.

Student Identification Number

When a student signs up for a membership and provides their student ID, this enables SLAYA to confirm that the student is studying at a particular tertiary institution, as we are required to provide a membership database annually to Student Guild institutions affiliated with SLAYA.

Full Name

When a student signs up for a membership and provides their full name, this enables SLAYA to identify the student by name as opposed to ID, as well as complying with the requirements of Student Guild institutions affiliated with SLAYA.

Email

When a student signs up for a membership and provides their email, this enables SLAYA to keep the student up-to-date with association news and events on a fortnightly basis, as well as complying with the requirements of Student Guild institutions affiliated with SLAYA.

We will respect your right to remove your details from our mailing lists if requested.

Phone Number

When a student signs up for a membership and provides their phone number, this enables SLAYA to link their membership with the QPay application.  We utilise QPay to manage the ticketing of our events.

QPay’s Privacy Policy can be found here.

Tertiary Institution

When a student signs up for a membership and provides their tertiary institution, this provides SLAYA with a secondary method of identifying the tertiary institution that a student is studying at.  For example, this is used in cases where students transfer tertiary institutions during the year, or where they transfer and haven’t been provided with a new ID as of yet.

Furthermore, this enables SLAYA to track the percentage of students per tertiary institution, that attend our events.  We pass this information regarding percentages on to tertiary institutions, as requested, for administration purposes.

Membership Status

When a student signs up for a membership , this enables SLAYA to provide the student with access to member-only benefits, such as event ticket discounts and amazing partner offers.
